Hello, world.
Tokyo Techies has launched the website and this blog for Hirome, a service where AI agents run social media for companies and brands. In this first post, we share the market shift we are seeing, and why an IT consulting firm decided to build in this space.
On social media, the companies that keep showing up every day are the ones that grow. Yet few companies manage to keep showing up. We built Hirome so that AI agents can carry that daily work.
What is agentic social media marketing?
Agentic social media marketing is a way of running social media where you give AI agents your brand's information and goals, and they prepare the work: planning posts, writing, design, video editing, drafting replies to comments and sorting potential customers. A person checks and approves it. The AI works less like a tool and more like a member of the team.
Compared with how social media is usually run, the difference is who creates and who decides.
| Approach | Who creates | Who decides | Daily effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| In-house, by hand | Your staff | Your staff | Everything from ideas to replies is manual |
| Scheduling tools | Your staff | Your staff | Publishing gets easier, creating does not |
| Generative AI chat | AI (prompted every time) | Your staff | Prompting and polishing, every time |
| Social media agency | The agency's staff | The agency and you | Fees, plus time spent coordinating |
| AI agents (Hirome) | AI | You | Review and approve |
The point is not that the AI acts on its own. The AI takes on the preparation and leaves the decisions to people. Your team's time moves from making things to deciding on them.
How big will the social media marketing market get?
According to research by CyberBuzz and Digital InFact, Japan's social media marketing market reached an estimated ¥1.2038 trillion in 2024, up 13% on the previous year. The same research projects it will grow about 1.8 times to ¥2.1313 trillion by 2029.
The market for AI agents themselves has only just started, and it is growing fast.
| Measure | Size | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Japan social media marketing market (2024, estimate) | ¥1.2038 trillion | CyberBuzz, Digital InFact |
| Same market (2029, projection) | ¥2.1313 trillion | Same |
| Japan AI agent platform market (FY2024) | ¥160 million (8 times the previous year) | ITR |
| Same market (FY2029, projection) | ¥13.5 billion (142.8% average annual growth) | ITR |
| Global AI agents market (2025 to 2030, projection) | $7.84 billion to $52.62 billion (46.3% a year) | MarketsandMarkets |
| Global social media management market (2025 to 2033, projection) | $29.9 billion to $171.6 billion (24.8% a year) | Grand View Research |
Each research firm defines its market differently, so these figures cannot be added up or compared directly. What they share is the view that social media marketing and AI agents are both markets set for strong growth.
Why is daily account management the growth opportunity?
In the same research, social media advertising made up 89.1% (¥1.0727 trillion) of Japan's 2024 social media marketing market, while account management services were just ¥28.3 billion (2.4%). We read this as a sign that daily account work depends so much on people that it is hard to hand off, so most companies keep it in-house.
| Breakdown (2024) | Size | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Social media advertising | ¥1.0727 trillion | 89.1% |
| Influencer marketing | ¥86.0 billion | 7.1% |
| Account management services | ¥28.3 billion | 2.4% |
| Campaign planning and consulting | ¥10.2 billion | 0.8% |
| Analytics tools | ¥6.6 billion | 0.5% |
When you stop paying for ads, they stop reaching people. The posts that build up on your account, and the relationships with the people who respond, stay with your brand. Account work still gets pushed aside, because there is simply too much of it:
- Coming up with something to post every day
- Rewriting each idea to fit Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube and Threads
- Shooting and editing short videos
- Replying to comments and DMs in your brand's voice
- Spotting potential customers among the people who respond
AI agents can now take on most of this preparation. That is why we believe the next stage of growth in social media marketing will come from daily account management, outside of advertising.
Why did Tokyo Techies, an IT consulting firm, build Hirome?
Tokyo Techies is an IT consulting firm founded in Tokyo in 2017. Through SaaS development, AI systems and cybersecurity work, we have helped companies from large enterprises to startups build their systems. Hirome came from a problem we kept seeing in that work: a company builds something good, then lacks the hands to get the word out. We built Hirome to solve it with our own technology.
We had three reasons.
1. We were the first users. Tokyo Techies also builds its own products, such as Kotae and Klever Suite. Building something good and then having no time left to post about it every day was our own problem. Today we run the social media for our product Kotae the same way Hirome does.
2. An AI agent is a business system, not just a model. A useful AI agent needs more than a capable model. It needs a workflow, approval steps, access control and each brand's data kept separate. Turning requirements into systems that run safely is exactly the work we have done for years as an IT consulting firm.
3. Every company, of any size, should be able to use social media well. Social media lets a brand reach its customers directly, without a big ad budget. We wanted any team, even a small one, to start as if it had a marketing team at its fingertips, with no new hires and no big investment, in a form that fits Japanese social media.
The name Hirome comes from the Japanese word 広める (hiromeru), "to spread". It means spreading what makes a brand good to the people who need it. We decided to build the tool for that with our own hands.
What Hirome does, and what it doesn't
Hirome is a service where AI agents that have learned your brand prepare your daily social media, and you check and approve it. It works in four steps.
- Tell it about your brand: it reads your website and materials, learns your brand's words and style, and plans your posts.
- The AI creates: photo posts, carousels and short videos, drafted a week at a time.
- Approve and publish: check and approve on your phone, and posts go out on schedule from your own accounts.
- Turn fans into customers: it drafts replies to comments and DMs, and puts the people who respond on your list of potential customers.
And here is what Hirome does not do. The details are in our promises.
- No bulk DMs or bought followers. Each person who responds gets a thoughtful reply, under your name.
- We never hold your passwords. You sign in on each network's own screen, and each brand's data is kept separate.
- No exaggeration. It writes in your brand's words, and numbers come only from your own materials.
- Posts as your brand, comments, replies and DMs go out only after you check them. You choose which networks it posts to, and how often.
If you would like to try it on your own social media, get in touch with us about Hirome.
What's next on this blog
On this blog, we share what helps companies grow with agentic social media marketing, limited to what we have tested ourselves.
- In practice: getting started with AI agents on social media, running approvals, writing for each network
- The market and the rules: platform policies, disclosure rules for paid promotion, and other changes that matter day to day
- Behind the scenes: how we build Hirome (our build log is public too)
Hello, world. Let's spread the word together.
Frequently asked questions
What is Hirome?
Hirome is a service by Tokyo Techies where AI agents run social media for companies and brands. The AI prepares posts, videos, reply drafts and a list of potential customers, and you check and approve.
How are AI agents different from social media scheduling tools?
A scheduling tool publishes posts that people have already made, at set times. AI agents learn your brand and prepare everything from planning and creating posts to drafting replies, so your team can spend its time deciding.
Will my brand lose its voice if AI does the work?
Hirome learns your brand's words and style from your website and materials, and it does not exaggerate. By default, posts as your brand and replies in conversations wait for you to check them before they are published.
Which networks are supported?
Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube and Threads.
Does it work for both large companies and small teams?
Yes, Hirome works for companies of any size. You can start with a small team, without new hires or a big investment.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the size of your business and how you will use it. Get in touch and we will walk you through it.
